There is a huge demand for electricity both in the rural and urban communities of Liberia.
The Liberian Electricity Cooperation (LEC) is yet to provide electricity to 15% of the country, and only 1.2% of rural households.
RREA’s master plan indicates that 85 % of Liberians, around 4.68 million people, currently lack access to electricity thereby creating a huge demand and marketing opportunity for solar energy.
This huge demand for electricity in Liberia allows renewable energy businesses like SSGE to grow rapidly, in particular through introducing a pay as you go (PAYGO) sales model, enabling rural households to gain access to clean energy.
SSGE aims to provide solar lanterns and solar home systems (SHS) that are cost effective in the long run, efficient, easy to use and cheaper than running a generator.
Products range & offer
SSGE sells a range of solar products, including solar panels, batteries in 6 and 12 volts, charge controllers and inverters of all sizes, as well as appliances.
We sell solar lanterns from a range of manufacturers, including d. light, Niwa, Biolite and Jua Energy solar systems, which are all quality verified by IFC’s Lighting Global initiative.
Limited Maintenance: our systems have no moveable parts – reducing the risk of breakage. Once installed, they last a long time and require little maintenance.
Non-Polluting: Powered by the sun’s renewable energy, the systems provide a powerful and absolutely clean source of illumination. 1 KWp solar installation reduces 1⁄2 ton of CO2 per annum.
Economical: Since the sun provides energy free of charge, household typically enjoy 30% power savings on their electricity bills.
